World Ayurveda Foundation

Founded in 2011, World Ayurveda Foundation (WAF) is an initiative by Vijnana Bharati aimed at the global propagation of Ayurveda. As part of a larger intellectual movement under the aegis of the Swadeshi Science movement undertaken by Vijnana Bharati, WAF is a platform that would take Ayurveda to the world for all the benefits mankind can draw from the traditional health sciences. WAF is a registered Society with the Charity Commissioner in the State of Karnataka with an illustrious Board of Trustees as its guiding force. Stakeholder involvement by participation, guidance and responsible management is the hallmark of WAF. In its constitution there is provided a Governing Council which would work under the general stewardship of the Board of Trustees but with substantial autonomy in annual activity plan. The objectives of WAF reflect the global scope that its name provides. Propagation and encouragement of all activities - scientific and Ayurveda-related - are the core principles.

Support to research, healthcare programmes through camps, clinics and sanatoriums, documentation, organisation of study groups, seminars, exhibitions, knowledge initiatives and a stress of general spread of Ayurveda in far corners of the world is the broad latitude of focus at WAF. Ayurveda as a sector requires the kind of stewardship and voice that genuinely brings out an Ayurveda ethos in matters that govern policy and planning with State and Central government administration in India and the world over. WAF is positioned to provide this much-needed leadership with its wide participation of various stakeholder groups. Ayurveda as a philosophy and science has a wide array of professional representation the world over. Students, research scholars, practitioners, therapists, public health administrators, cultivators, collectors, multidisciplinary scientific academics and industry are the prominent stakeholders of Ayurveda today. WAF is a unique platform which has the energy represented by all these stakeholders to provide a multidimensional, relevant, scientific, in-depth and at all times traditionally rich experiential Ayurveda voice. The impact of WAF in matters of policy, action, public health, trade, practice, science and above all global for the benefit of society and mankind is but natural.
